Luis Phillips

Chief Operating Officer

Luis has over 30 years of international experience in investment analysis, investment banking, portfolio management and Private Equity. Luis is a member of the firm’s executive management and investment committee. Additionally, his responsible for assisting in the development of the firm’s overall strategy with a focus on external strategic partners and key investors.
 
Luis has extensive expertise in investment analysis, having been trained as an investment analyst at a number of leading stockbroking firms (Hoare Govett, Dillon Read, Morgan Grenfell, BZW) in the City of London, culminating in his appointment as Head Global Sector Research at BNP Paribas (London and New York). The function involved the co-ordination, development and marketing of products from teams of 50 analysts across the US, Europe, Latin America and Asia. He was also appointed Head of Asset Allocation Strategy interfacing with the firm’s strategists and economists before moving to the buy-side.
 
Luis moved to investment banking in 2009, with a focus on Asia and China in particular as Head of Global M&A at CITIC Merchant Limited Hong Kong, a merchant banking arm of CITIC GROUP of China. Luis was one of very few foreign-born senior members of the management team, which exposed him to extensive interaction with the senior management of state-owned enterprises, National Policy Banks and Sovereign Wealth Funds.
 
Luis has a first-class honours degree in Economics from University College London and completed the PED (as part of the Executive MBA program) at IMD Business School, Lausanne, Geneva. He is also fluent in Spanish.
